Tax Exemptions:
Now is the time to make sure your tax exemptions are up to date.
As I am sure many of you know already the State of Texas, as does most states, allows you to declare one home as your primary homestead. By doing so you are eligible to reduce the amount of taxes you pay throughout the year. The rules are simple and relatively standard across counties. If you lived in your home as of January 1 you are probably eligible for a General Exemption. If you are age 65 or older you may be eligible for a Senior Exception as well.
